Robert Elrod, MD

Dr. Robert Elrod is an Orthopedic Surgeon fellowship-trained in Hip and Knee Reconstruction, Total Joint Replacement. He has additional expertise in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement techniques.

Dr. Elrod received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science, with a minor in English, from Auburn University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. He went on to complete his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was awarded the Resident Research Award and pioneered a global health rotation in partnership with Kijabe Hospital in Kenya. He subsequently completed his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at Brigham and Women’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Elrod has authored multiple research projects and presentations and continues to be actively involved in advancing orthopedic care through both clinical innovation and international outreach. His experiences abroad have shaped his commitment to making high-quality orthopedic care accessible across diverse patient populations.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Elrod enjoys traveling, writing, sports, music, outdoor activities, and spending time with his wife and son.

Dr. Elrod practices with a patient-centered philosophy, prioritizing shared decision-making and careful attention to each individual’s lifestyle and goals. He emphasizes optimizing non-operative management whenever possible, and when surgery is the best option, he is dedicated to using the most advanced techniques to help patients achieve faster recovery, less pain, and the best possible outcomes.
