Shoulder Surgery
Dr. Favorito is a fellowship-trained, board certified orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in the treatment of all shoulder disorders and is recognized as a regional, national and international expert. He is a member of the invitation-only American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He has specific interests in the treatment and repair of rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis and fractures, total shoulder replacement, shoulder instability and pain management following shoulder surgery.
Dr. Favorito earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Immediately following, Dr. Favorito completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at The Christ Hospital Bone and Joint Institute and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Dr. Favorito has been very active in the Cincinnati community, having been a team physician for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Cyclones and Cincinnati Swarm. For 10 years, he served as the co-medical director for the ATP and WTA tennis tournaments in Mason, Ohio. In addition, he served as the medical director for the Cincinnati Ballet and was their company physician from 2010-2018. He was the team physician for Anderson High School from 2004-2018.
Dr. Favorito is actively involved in clinical and basic science research related to the shoulder. He has multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored one book chapter. He has been invited throughout the world to share his experience and surgical outcomes. He has served as invited international faculty on 6 of 7 continents.
Other scholarly activities include membership in multiple orthopedic societies including the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and is both a manuscript reviewer and Editorial Board member for the Journal of Arthroscopy and Related Surgery. In addition, he is a consultant to several orthopedic companies, assisting in the development and validation of both shoulder instruments and products.
