Dr. Patrick Sweeney is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty fellowship training in shoulder & elbow surgery. He has special expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic shoulder surgery, as well as total, reverse, and revision shoulder replacements. He employs state-of-the-art individualized 3D CT software planning for shoulder replacement surgery.

Dr. Sweeney attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in accountancy. He received the James Dincolo Award, given to the 3 accounting seniors with the highest cumulative GPA. A calling to medicine led him to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago for medical school, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He finished his training with a one-year fellowship dedicated exclusively to shoulder & elbow surgery at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He completed his entire medical and surgical training at two of the top 15 hospitals in the country.

Dr. Sweeney is actively involved in teaching and training of shoulder surgery on the local and national level. His research interests include anatomic and reverse shoulder replacements as well as rotator cuff tears and repairs. His primary goal is to treat each patient how he would want his family member treated.

Dr. Sweeney is an assistant professor with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and Missouri Shoulder and Elbow Society.
