Luke Schnell, DO

Dr. Lucas Schnell is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and Shoulder specialist who joined the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies team in 2022. His practice focus is Shoulder Conditions including Sports Medicine and Joint Replacement.
Dr. Schnell graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dakota State University in 2003 earning a Bachelor of Science degree and playing varsity football. He went on to get his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University in 2009, and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in the Kansas City area in 2014. He then received a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship from the St. Francis Shoulder Center in Columbus, Georgia in 2015 where he was a team physician for Columbus State University. He has been a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Shoulder Specialist in the Denver area for the last ten years.
Dr Schnell has presented at various local and national conferences in the field of orthopeadics. He is currently a member of the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics, Colorado Medical Society, and has Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation Level 2 Accreditation. Dr. Schnell also has been involved in education as a preceptor for medical students from Kansas City University and Rocky Vista University throughout his career.
As a major player in the success of the communities he’s lived in over the past decade-plus, Dr. Schnell has served as the Team Physician for various local high schools and colleges. He currently is the team physician at Erie High School. Growing up on a ranch and participating in rodeo, Dr. Schnell enjoys working as a PRCA team doctor with Justin Sports Medicine in the regional PRCA rodeo circuit. He also has participated in medical mission work abroad including the Dominican Republic in 2009.
In his free time, Dr. Schnell enjoys golfing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, and enjoying time with his wife and daughters.
