Dr. Edward G. Lilly III earned his undergraduate degree at Davidson College and completed his pre-medical science studies at the University of NC at Chapel Hill. He is a graduate at the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed both his general surgery internship and his orthopedic surgery residents at Duke Health in Durham, followed by an Otto E. Aufranc Adult Reconstructive Surgery (Hip & Knee Replacement) Fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts.

Throughout his academic career, he has earned several accolades, including the Duke University Orthopedic Resident Research Award, the North Carolina Orthopedic Association Resident Research Award, and the F. E. Owen Award for Clinical Excellence.

He was an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. At New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, he specialized in hip & knee, sports medicine, and general orthopedics.

Dr. Lilly was recently elected president of the N.C. Orthopedics Association.
