Dr. John Bojescul received his Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from the United States Military Academy in 1992 and graduated medical school from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (America’s Medical School) in Bethesda Maryland in 1996. He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington DC in 2004 and also completed a combined Sports Medicine Fellowship at West Point, NY and the Hospital for Special Surgery, NY in 2009. After having served over 24 years in the military he retired in 2016 as Chief, Sports Medicine Surgery at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC). While in the Army, he attained the rank of Colonel and had many challenging assignments: DISCOM Surgeon 10th MTN Division, Orthopedic Surgery Consultant for the 75th Ranger Regiment/3rd Ranger Battalion, Chairman, Department of Orthopedics, Neurosciences and Rehabilitation DDEAMC, and the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services DDEAMC. He deployed twice to Afghanistan (Salerno, Herat). His wartime experience, Division I (FBS) Football Assistant Team Physician (Army West Point) and many years of service to our warrior-athletes have afforded him the ability to treat complex orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. Dr. Bojescul taught orthopedic surgery residents for eight years at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and is an associate professor of surgery for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations in all subspecialties of orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Bojescul has a special interest in joint preservation and restoration procedures of the hip, knee, shoulder and ankle from adolescent to adult ages. His practice encompasses complex Hip Arthroscopy techniques for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), cartilage restoration/meniscus transplantation of the knee, limb-realignment osteotomies, multi-ligament knee reconstruction procedures and shoulder/knee joint resurfacing. He also has a vested interest in Equestrian injuries given his daughter is a Preliminary Level Event Area III Rider (Aiken, SC). Dr. Bojescul is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in orthopedics and sports medicine surgery, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Society of Milrtary Orthopedic Surgeons. He has active privileges at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, the Evans Surgery Center and the Augusta Orthopedic Surgery Center.

Dr. and Mrs. Bojescul have been married since 1993. They have a daughter, Jennifer, who attends USC Aiken.
